Julia & Mark Destination Wedding – Victoria Falls, Livingstone, Zambia

Welcome to Victoria Falls, Livingstone, Zambia, one of the seven wonders of the world. Being one of the most monumental natural formations in the world, it is no wonder Julia and Mark choose this location for their destination wedding. It is not until you stand before this vast thundering water amidst the swirling mist with the ground quivering beneath your feet that you truly appreciate the sheer magnitude and beauty of the unique Victoria Falls…”Mosi-oa-Tunya”, The Smoke that Thunders.

Inspired by this scenic setting, we combined the natural African landscape with glamourous and whimsical touches. Guests delighted in a discovery journey, much similar to David Livingstone, to the mouth of the Victoria falls where the reception was set. Our wedding designers kept the reception as authentic as possible with rustic wooden benches, Persian rugs, parasol umbrellas, panama hats and custom-made foliage fans keeping guests cool from the beautiful blazing sun.

The groom, Mark and his groomsmen were dapper in classic black suits with greenery buttonholes tying in to the theme. The bride, Julia dazzled in a gorgeous hand beaded atelier wedding gown with every girl’s dream, princess like skirt with volumes of tulle and a long flowing veil which paralleled to the volumes of water in the Victoria Falls. Her bridesmaids perfectly complemented her in chic black dresses with organically styled greenery bouquets.

A true love was celebrated as Mark and Julia shared their vows and were pronounced husband and wife with the ground shaking sounds of the Victoria Falls in the background. Keeping it natural, our resourceful creative designers foliaged around the Falls landscape for small greenery leaves which were thrown as confetti creating a very dreamy moment for the special couple.

After basking in the sun at the ceremony, guests were tactfully treated to icy cool lemon scented refreshment towels and crafty gin cocktails perfectly embellished with porcupine quills and regal colored peacock feathers. The guests indulged at cocktail hour, in our abundant harvest table adorned with quality cheeses, charcuterie, artisanal beetroot hummus and dips, freshly baked breads and luscious fruits. The table was beautifully enhanced and decorated with props and family heirlooms, from woven picnic baskets, old world safari helmets, vintage world globes and mounds of greenery plucked from a nearby fragrant guava tree. Special guests graced us with their infectious presence… The Zebra’s, in their black and white pin stripe suits were strategically lured to mingle with the guests.

As the sun set over lovely Livingstone, the love journey continued to an outdoor boma area for the ceremony. Our talented wedding designers once again successfully transformed a natural outdoor area into a truly magical setting with glamourous accents. Classic round tables were enhanced with soft patterned romantic white tablecloths and elegant tiffany chairs which we perfectly paired with cut crystal glassware, silverware, delft inspired luxurious fabric napkins and luscious greenery centerpieces with gorgeous candles that created a very warm and intimate yet glamourous feel. We incorporated the sophisticated black and white color scheme with a checkered black and white dancefloor. Crystal chandeliers and fairy lights were strung above creating a magical ambiance.

We treated the guests to an abundant feast of various curated live grill stations compromising of traditional bream fish caught fresh from the mighty Zambezi river, Zimbabwean braised oxtail and coal grilled mouthwatering kebabs. Freshly made salads with the finest quality ingredients, freshly baked breads and more.

To end of the sumptuous feast a themed table with stone linen and colorful props was laden with delicious sweet treats and an impressive 2kg whole chocolate slab which guests were oh so happy to indulge in.

With the glistening stars above and wonderous tall leafy trees, how could this not be the most romantic wedding setting. Love and laughter filled the air as the guests and couple danced the night away…

Congratulations to the very special couple, Mark & Julia

Love, the Vicky Crease Team
